Week 38 (18 - 24 September)
Hey readers, I’m happy to see you back on my blog! Here we are with my second post, telling you more about the lectures from this week. After our first posts, we had some feedback to make the purpose of our blogs clear. Therefore, I’m going to keep this post very efficient. I will talk only about the lectures, which is the main goal of our blogs.
Monday, I had my third lecture. I dare to say it was one of the most important ones. Minni Ruhtinas, Development Manager of Telia (dominant telecom company), gave us a huge presentation about her company, its situation, her work, and what they planned in the future. We have the honour to work for Telia as our main case. As a Belgian Exchange student, I don’t know much about this major company, and what it offers, but I’m very curious and eager to learn about them, and to solve the case with my workgroup named "Martina & the boys".
Thursday was a busy day full of very interesting presentations. Three lecturers explained their vision about business, how they had experienced it in their life, and what they expected from us. Those 3 different companies offered us a second case we must solve as a team. We had the opportunity to choose the one that attracted us the most. The first, Juha Ritvala, is an Asian Business Guru. As you can guess it, he is a specialist in Asian business and has over 20 years’ experience. I was very impressed by his presentation and what he accomplished in his career. He explained to us how different it was doing business in Asia compared to European countries. And after his presentation, I can assure you I had a complete new vision about Asia’s working habits. Our second presentation was given by Olivier Béaslas. This French professional photographer showed us his work, from where he started until now. I was impressed by his passion and his will to succeed. We had the chance to have a group photo made by him.
Fareem Iftikhar, developer of the Vid Octopus app, was the last lecturer. Even though, my attention wasn’t down at all. I was listening to every detail, and agreed with his vision about digital marketing, and how it evolved. He explained to us what our future job could be, and what was expected from us in a start-up or in a bigger company. He gave us a lot of very recent examples about digitalism in our world. Next week, I will be working on the two cases, and, of course, my blog. I will try to give more exact details about the cases, and how they evolved. You will also have information about the new lectures. I plan to work on my blog: complete the project part, add a gallery with some nice pictures I took, and make a weekly plan for my posts, and their content. I hope you keep up-to-date! See you soon!
