Week 39 (25 September - 01 October)
Hey you! Welcome again to my blog! We are in week 39 which means from September 25 till October 1, and this is my third post. One of the many differences between Belgium and Finland is the schedule. The Finnish lesson schedule is displayed week by week, which made me search after the right dates for each week. I’ve never had to think in this ‘week by week’ way before in Brussels. What happened during our lectures this week? Monday was an intensive day with three important lectures. We went deeper in our subject with very interesting topics. Thursday was completely different. Let me explain it later in this post. First presentation on Monday was made by Vanessa Lehtinen, Head of Digital Customer Experience from Telia. It was my favorite lecture because I give a lot of importance to customer experience (CX) when it comes to marketing. She explained to us the importance of CX in companies. Digital marketing should be rethought from the customer’s point of view. The way every consumer sees our product, brand or company. This lecture helped us with our first Telia case, and gave us a guidance to follow. The CEO of Drizzlez Inc., Hanan Naeem was our second lecturer. Drizzlez Inc. is an IT company that develops apps for smartphones. This presentation was linked to the lecture we had previous week about the Vid Octopus App. Vid Octopus is one of the apps Drizzlez create. This app gives the opportunity to share own videos to multiple social networks at the same time!
Our final lecture was given by Fareem Iftikhar, developer of the Vid Octopus app but also a Full Stack Growth Marketer, a Freelancer, a Digital Marketing Manager, a Client Acquisition Manager & Consultant. We already met him previous week when he explained to us the evolution of digital marketing, and what a Full Stack Growth Marketer/Hacker was. A full stack developer is someone with the knowledge and experience to work across every facet of the development ‘stack’ or web development platform. The full-stack marketer can work across a range of marketing disciplines, from SEO to UX and design. A growth hacker is someone capable of leading the growth charge of a startup. He’s a marketer with the right talents and approach. He can help once the company has a product-market fit, and an efficient conversion/monetization process. Those were quite long and complicated definitions but it made me understand better the words I mentioned! I hope it helped you too.
Now back to his lecture. He presented us different marketing websites specialized in analyzing other websites. Some examples are Similarweb.com and Spy4u. They analyze the monthly searches a website has or they give the rankings or the visits websites got.
Like I said, Thursday was a complete different day. Our main lecturer was Christopher Evatt but our teachers were also present. Christopher Evatt is a CEO, inspirational speaker, mentor, trainer, lecturer, advisor and has many other titles. He didn’t have any particular topic for his lecture but he talked about his personal experience. It was very interesting because we learned how to get away from every difficult situation thanks to some of his tips. His main advises were to try to guess what people needed instead of asking them. You should give everybody in a team what he wants to have a certain balance, and good quality work. The most important thing is to make everybody happy to remember the positive parts of any project. Another topic was our network. How to get work done with an efficient own network. How to have a main purpose that suits everybody. We eventually ended with searching for our own life goal and encouraging each other to achieve them.
We had a very interesting week. I hope you enjoyed discovering what we learned! See you next week with more amazing content and pictures!
