Week 44 (30/10 – 05/11)

Hello peeps! This is my weekly blogpost written on time, on Friday afternoon, to share with you what I’ve done this week. As you already now, I went to Russia with my friends to visit Saint Petersburg. I came back on Monday 30 October at 7 am. We were all very exhausted and rushed to our beds. Thankfully, our Teacher Anna cancelled the course on Monday to give us more time to work on our presentations, and our final report for Telia. I’m very grateful for that because it gave me some time to rest in the morning. That afternoon, I was fresh again to get to work. To clarify one point, we had Telia’s presentation number 2 on Monday 23 October. We were asked to prepare case number 3 for this Thursday 2 November. It leaves us one week and three days to prepare it. You know that I was in Russia that week. I had less than 4 days to prepare myself for our presentation, and to work on our final report. It was quite a rush, but we made it. I think you’ve understand my point now, I’ve been working on those two main projects from Monday till Wednesday evening to be ready for Thursday. Let’s go through that big day! We were asked, on Thursday 2 November, to meet at Telia’s headquarters in Helsinki. It was impressive to discover the headquarters. We went upstairs to the seventh floor to get ready in the special lecture room. When I entered the room, I felt how important this presentation was. There were, in addition to all the students, at least 30 other employees attending the show. Even more, all our presentations were recorded by a professional cameraman. I confess that I started to feel the pressure when my team announced me that we were the first group to present. I’m not a stressful guy, and I like to present before people, but I didn’t feel very comfortable at that point. The show started when Minni Ruhtinas introduced who we were, what was going to happen, and what was expected from us. She let the Telia team, and the Liiga team introduce themselves. They were at least 10 people with different jobs from the marketing department to the app designer. After their introduction, we listened to a recorded video of the head of hockey. Minni concluded the introduction, and let my team settle in on the floor to start the speech. My team focused on the products Liiga offers in partnership with Telia. We tried to give innovative ideas and new perspectives. It was a hard task because Liiga has very good products, and their offers are complete. Our teacher warned us, but we still wanted to take the challenge.

In my opinion, we did a great presentation. When the time for questions arrived, we had difficulties to answer some questions. They asked us for examples and concrete numbers, but in our short preparation time, we could only focus on the ideas. I believe with more time, we could have proven our ideas with more concrete numbers. Globally, I’m happy about our performance. I was also really impressed by other teams. They focused on the Liiga App or the content marketing on social media. I really like the mini games some teams shaped in their app. The presentation I liked the most was team 4. Their team is made of persons that already have one or more jobs or even their own company. They have all a lot of experience, and each of them has a speciallity.

Nevertheless, they did an amazing show around virtual reality, and how Liiga could use it with Telia to promote hockey games.

After the 8 presentations, the jury chose 3 teams to give them a special price about the best idea or the best demonstration or the best customer experience.

That day was a long and stressful day! I was exhausted, but released and satisfied when it came to an end.

That’s it for this post! I tried to give a lot of information about Monday and Thursday because I worked a lot this week and the other days weren’t that interesting. I hope you still liked it! See you next week!
